Geraldine Sue Dernek McElmury

McElmury, Geraldine Sue Beloved Mother, Grams, Sister & Friend Age 73. Died October 25, 2012, at her home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, due to complications resulting from her battle with Mesothelioma. Her finals days were spent in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born January 31, 1939 in Winona, Minnesota, and became a White Bear Lake resident in 1972, along with her husband of 21 years, Robert McElmury. Geraldine was an amazing woman whose generosity was exceeded only by the love for her family. She spent her life caring for others as a mother and as a rehabilitation nurse. Testament to her good will and nature is evident in the number of friends by which she is survived. Gerri has left an indelible mark on so many lives and her good deeds will live on in the hearts of others. She was preceded in death by father, Richard Dernek; mother Bernadine (Kukowski) Dernek; brother, Fr. Daniel Dernek; son, Daniel McElmury; and Uncle, Arthur Dernek. She is survived by brother, Fr. Richard Dernek; sons, Michael (Kristin) McElmury, Richard (Tanya) McElmury; daughters, Mary Sue (Brent) Millard and Jennifer (Ryan) Manning; as well as eight grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3878 Highland Ave, White Bear Lake. Visitation 5-8 PM Monday at Mueller Lake Mortuary, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake and one hour prior to the time of the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona, Minnesota. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and medical personnel who were involved in her care over the past few years.
