Gerald J. "Jerry" McCarty passed peacefully into Jesus arms November 17, 2024.
Our loving brother and family mentor was bigger than life. As entrepreneur, engineer, architect, artist, athlete and friend he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether in the Tucson arts community or at Parsons Steel, Anchorage AK, the oil fields of the Arctic, New York, Boston, Italy or St.Paul/Mpls his achievements flourished.
Born to Charles H. and Elizabeth O. McCarty (Urbanek) on April 28,1954. Jerry was President and CCO of his company McCarty Domes upon which he achieved a United States Patent on a structural roof dome system that he witnessed successfully constructed domes in over 40 locations in the United States. Jerry received a Masters Degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Architecture and Engineering. In addition he attended The Tyler School of Art in Rome where he specialized in sculpting in Italian Marble. With this unique skillset he was commissioned by the State of Minnesota to recreate deteriorated parts of the marble statues on the Minnesota State Capitol building at age 21. Jerry graduated from St. John's University, Collegeville Minnesota and was part of their successful football teams. Jerry began his football career and leadership skills at St. Agnes HS where he established many lifelong friends.
He is survived by siblings, Doreen McCarty (Steve Ames) of Genoa Wisconsin, Brian (Bonnie) McCarty of LaPine Oregon, Lynn Browne of St. Paul Minnesota; sister-in-law, Patricia McCarty; and countless other family members and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Michael C. McCarty; and brother-in-law, Dennis Browne.
