George Grabowski passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; sisters, Harriet and Helen; brothers, Raymond and Edward. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Beatrice; three daughters, Jean Landon, Paula Sanchez, Mary (Mark) Klemmensen; son, Kevin; grandchildren, Tony Landon, Brian, Allison & Jennifer Sanchez, Sara (Nick) Steckhahn, and Jessica, Adam & Michael Klemmensen. George served in WWII in the US Navy as a Torpedoman’s Mate Third Class on the Howard W. Gilmore. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 5907. He started his career at Bruce Publishing as a Compositor and retired after many years at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He was a lifelong fisherman who enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also known for his green thumb, as his garden was his pride and joy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1725 Kennard Street, Maplewood. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at Mueller Memorial Parkway Chapel, 835 Johnson Pkwy, St. Paul and from 10 AM until the time of the Mass on Wednesday at the church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
