GEORGE PHILIP GENT
Age 44 of Lino Lakes, Minnesota
George Philip Gent was born to Raymond and Donna (nee Sorden) Gent on May 14, 1970 in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended North English High School, Mount Mercy College and Century College. He married the love of his life, Karen Gent (nee Krapfl) on September 24, 1994 in Marion, Iowa. George and Karen moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota as George had the opportunity to study at Century College to become a skilled orthotist. Upon graduation, the Gents had two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Riley, and decided that Minnesota was a perfect fit to raise their family. George began work at Gillette Children’s Hospital, helping kids have the opportunity for a better quality of life. George enjoyed sports, was an avid fisherman, and an overall lover of nature. He practiced his second calling as an outstanding photographer capturing beautiful images of all kinds of birds in action. George’s greatest love was his family. His dedication as a husband and father is an inspiration to all who hope to have a family in the future. They spent almost every weekend each summer in the cabin in Danbury, Wisconsin. They all cherished those weekends and memories that were created which will last forever. After a courageous battle with colon cancer, George passed away at his home, surrounded by family on November 14, 2014. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernadette and Melissa; his brother, Nicholas; Grandma and Grandpa Gent; Grandpa Sorden; and brother-in-law, Mark. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen Gent; his children, Rachel and Riley Gent; his parents, Raymond and Donna Gent; his siblings, Janet (Pat) Sullivan, Annette Gent, Mathias (Vicky) Gent, Celeste (Shawn) Gallagher and Charles Gent; Grandma Sorden; in laws Barbara & Edward Krapfl and brother-in-law David Krapfl and too many other family and friends to list.
