Fred D. Yekaldo
Age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 15, 2023.
Fred was born on August 4, 1932 in St. Paul MN to the late Ralph and Lillian Yekaldo.
Fred grew up in Swede Hollow and attended Johnson High School. After graduation he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War in the construction battalion in the United States Navy. After returning home he met the love of his life Myra and they married in 1956 and spent 49 wonderful years together. Fred was a proud member of Local 34 as a Plumber-he retired in 1984.
In 1982 Fred was ordained as a Deacon and spent many years sharing his faith, humor and big personality with so many people. Fred was an amazing cook, his spaghetti sauce was his signature dish. His love of woodworking touched many lives with creative wooden signs that he made by hand for so many friends and family.
Fred is preceded in death by his loving wife Myra, his parents Ralph and Lillian and his brothers Frank and Tony.
Fred is survived by his greatest accomplishment-his children, Christine, (Dean), Gina (Steve), Toni (Kevin) Fred (Ann).
Fred was the proud grandfather of 9 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren:
Grandchildren-Dominick (Hillary), Samantha (Nick), Vincent, Amanda (Dennis), Claire (Ryan), Andrew (Katie), Christie (Brian), Jennie (Chris), Steve (Melanie)
Great-Grandchildren-Maddie, Taylor, Isabella, Luke, Bianca, Hailey, Dani, Parker, Kendalle, John, Ralph. Fred is also survived by many special friends whose lives he touched in many ways.
The family thanks Cerenity Senior Care Marion and Our Lady of Peace Home.
Please join us to celebrate Fred's life with a Memorial Mass on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 am at GUARDIAN ANGELS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 8260-4th Street, Oakdale with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Interment Guardian Angels Cemetery.
