ELAINE'S LIFE STORY
Elaine Eleanor was born on March 12, 1926 to proud parents, Frank and Cecelia Matysik. Her father worked for the post office and her mother stayed at home with the children. Elaine grew up with one younger brother. She went to elementary school at Saint Adalbert's and then graduated from Saint Agnes High School. Elaine was the salutatorian of her graduating class. She enjoyed playing tennis when she was young and then golf later as an adult. Elaine also played accordion!
In June of 1949, Elaine married Joe Geisen. Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for a coal company and Joe was a buyer for a hardware company. They lived in Saint Paul and it was there that they raised their four children. Their three sons and one daughter still live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Elaine is also blessed with several grandchildren. While her children were young, Elaine did volunteer work and later became the church secretary. She also volunteered as a den mother for Cub Scouts for many years while her boys were growing up. Joe and Elaine enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage until Joe passed in 2004. Elaine was fortunate to find love again later in life with her current husband, Al.
Elaine has enjoyed many activities throughout her life. She has traveled around much of the United States as well as many European countries. She especially enjoyed the mountains of Switzerland! Family camping in a tent trailer filled many days as did gardening, playing bridge, golf, and being part of the Women's Guild at her church. Elaine is a great dancer and enjoyed both square dancing and ballroom dancing. She has always loved children and just being around them is sure to put a smile on her face! Elaine is also known for her dessert bars. The smell of fresh baked goods always filled the house for her family!
