Drew Allyn Wahlstrom, loved son, grandson, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 17 on February 11, 2025 after a 12 year battle with Batten Disease.
Drew was born an “active guy,” as his grandpa would say. He never sat still and had a passion for playing baseball or riding his bike in the neighbors’ driveway. He loved to pick on his sister, Lydia, and climb all over her, especially when she said no! In later years, Drew loved everything Lego (he’d actually sit still to work on it!) and enjoyed music and movies. He could quote any movie he had on. Drew had an eclectic taste in both music and movies and went through phases from anything Superhero, Indiana Jones and Star Wars, to Disney movies. He loved music from all genres from Johnny Cash to Weird Al to Michael Jackson to The Sound of Music.
Drew had special relationships with his school teachers and staff, and had the ability to make anyone he met feel special and loved. The full body wiggle, and arms up in the air for a hug were two of his greatest gifts. You never doubted how loved you were in Drew’s presence. He was part of the North High School wrestling team for the last 4 years where Coach Moeller and the team made him a Captain Team Manager and honored him with lettering in the sport.
Drew is preceded in death by his sister, Lydia, and his grandpa, Paul Magelssen. He survived by his parents Laura and Todd Wahlstrom, grandparents, Sheryl Magelssen and Anita and Jerry Wahlstrom, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We are so grateful for the life of Drew.
If you plan on attending a service, please wear something that reminds you of Drew or something he would have enjoyed. He loved wearing a suit and tie, anything Superhero, Star wars, Disney, Minnesota Twins or his North High gear.
