Douglas Martinson

Age 82 of Hugo, went to be with his Savior on January 24, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Lisa. His son David (Christi), His daughter Pam (Jim), Brother Mel (Jane), Sister In-Law Marcia. Grandchildren Michael (Katheryn), Naomi, Lucy, Robert, Saul, Jack Benson, Megan Benson, Matthew Benson and James Benson III. Many nieces and nephews. Cats Pepper and Twix.

Doug was born on December 1, 1942, to Harold and Elise Martinson. He joined the Navy in 1960 and served on the USS Essex refueling aircraft during the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He started working for the City of Minneapolis in 1976 as a truck driver and retired in 2002.

In 1979 Doug became a Born Again Christian. His faith would define him for the rest of his life. 

Doug enjoyed playing sports, fishing, hunting, card playing, mowing the lawn and most of all handing out gospel tracts.

He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007.

Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Family Baptist Church, 2201 Girard Ave. N. Minneapolis. Luncheon to follow. Dress is casual & comfortable.
