Survived by her family, children: Kathryn/Gary Lindner of Circle Pines, Timothy/Linda Powers of Mahtomedi, Nancy/Jonathan Winston of Saint Paul, grandchildren: Gina/Paul Carlson and Kirk/Brenda Lindner, Jared and David Powers, Alex Winston; great grandsons: Matthew Thomas Carlson and Caleb Michael Lindner, great granddaughter Arianna Kathryn Lindner. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law Louise Dillery.
Preceded in death by beloved husband, Thomas C. Powers (1988), her beloved parents, William F. Dillery (1940) and Florence L. (Riley) Dillery (1981), beloved brother John W. Dillery (1966), and by her beloved niece and Goddaughter Marie Therese ‘Terry’ Dillery (1989).
Her family moved back to Minnesota and to Mahtomedi in 1925, after spending a short time in California. Soon after graduation from White Bear High School in 1933, followed by Globe Business College, she lived and worked in Panama and Hawaii with dear, lifelong friends, Jacqueline Curry Law and Doris Baumhoefner Krueger. She married Thomas Curtin Powers on December 26, 1953. In 1959 they moved from 617 to 619 Park Ave. where they continued to raise their family on the shore of White Bear Lake that she loved. She was a homemaker then, until the U.S. Government called on her to return to work, this time at the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant, in 1966. She retired from federal employment with over 25 years of service, and then helped open a new Senior Citizen Center in Mahtomedi, retiring from that position in 1984. She and her dear friends Jackie and Doris were able to plan reunions in Hawaii many times over the years, and she cherished each visit. She also traveled there twice with her dear friend Char Shields.
She was a founding member of Saint Jude of the Lake parish, and enjoyed her family of friends there so much. Her weekly Rosary Group, monthly Adoration, and bi-monthly Vocations Group gave her so much strength and joy in her faith.
Her greatest joy, however, was to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. She often recalled how she felt on her first Holy Communion day, and carried that awe with her throughout her life.
WRITINGS THAT MOM LOVED:
“A mother holds her children’s hands for awhile – their hearts forever.”
“Our greatest treasure is our family – not only the warm circle around the Christmas tree, but all of those whose love gave us life, and those who will carry our love into the future.”
- above two quotes, authors unknown
“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”
- Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Mom was always thinking of the well-being of others. ALWAYS praying for others, always asking, “what can I get you to eat?” She really was a servant of all. Her cheerfulness is well known, and it seemed as if she was never blue. She was very very forgiving and very very loving. She always said that since she had been much loved, she should do the same to others, and she did. Always thinking of sending a cheerful card or note to someone she knew was hurting. Always watching the newspapers or magazines for articles or coupons in which others would have an interest. Her life was really spent in giving and in being content with what she had. She was always so grateful for her many blessings, and used to say that she didn’t envy anyone – but then, not everyone lived in a lakeside setting as she did! She loved to be near the water, talking with her wonderful neighbors, Peggy Alnes and the Santi Family, or working in her yard.
Mom, your smile and comfort remain forever with us. We love you!

Please follow along with the printed leaflet for the prayers, readings, and songs during Mass.
After Mass there will be a lunch served in Kohler Hall which is just downstairs. There will be signs directing you to the proper door(s).
After the lunch we will proceed to Calvary Cemetery in Saint Paul. Please join us if you are able. We would love to have you with us there as well.
The family would like to thank Fr. Cory Rohlfing and St. Jude’s parish for their support during this time. We would also like to extend thanks to Fr. Ralph Talbot who inspired Mom during his tenure as pastor at St. Jude’s. She was always grateful for his guidance and love for her.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your attendance here today. Your loving presence means more than you know.
