Doris Evelyn Gobely (nee Hummel)
Doris was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 2, 1928. She was one of four children to Wilhelmina and John Hummel. She grew up in the West Seventh Street neighborhood and graduated from Monroe High School. She met the love of her life, Donald W. Gobely, and they were married when she was just 17. They raised three wonderful children together, Deborah, Don, and Dennis. Doris spent her time focusing on her family as a stay at home mother and being a dedicated parishioner of St. Markâs Lutheran Church in St. Paul. She was a phenomenal cook and baker. Although everything she made was great, she made some particularly good meals like spaghetti, meatloaf, and anything with chicken. Her family remembers the sweets that she made and how Christmas was always filled with cookies, peanut butter desserts, and other baked goods. Doris and Donald loved to spend time close to home and would go to the cabin in Mille Lacs, Brainerd with Dennis, or out to Cumberland, Wisconsin. She was a sweet, quiet, and loving woman. Although quiet, she and her sister could talk forever. Her family meant the world to her and she loved to spend time with them. Whenever they would get together, she would have some type of card game going on.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelmina and John Hummel; her husband, Donald W.
