Dolores J. (Whitmore) Wholey, 74, of Dellwood, MN died peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born July 13, 1948 in Willimantic, CT, the daughter of Anne T. Olenick and Real B. Whitmore. She was married to her loving husband Douglas R. Wholey for 45 years. Doug predeceased her on February 6, 2019.
Following her degree at University of Connecticut, Dori married Doug and worked as a computer programmer in the San Francisco Bay Area. There they enjoyed the pleasures of great restaurants, beautiful scenery, and starting a family. Over the years, Doug's career took them from California to Arizona, Pennsylvania and finally Minnesota, and Dori's family remained her primary vocation. She loved her family and treasured time spent with them whether traveling or visiting them at home. She was always excited to share her love of God, her garden and knowledge of native plants, baking, coffee, and ice cream.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna (Drew) Kalnow with their children Teddy and Sophia, her daughter, Fiona, and her son, Will (Emily) and their children Eva, Sam and Kai. She is also survived by her sisters Suzanne Whitmore and Nancy (Kevin) Sullivan, her brother, Jim (Cindy) Whitmore, brother-in-law Jim (Louise) Wholey and step-sister-in-law Cynthia (Roger) Miller. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Dori's kind, quiet and loving presence will be greatly missed. A small, private service will be held in mid-April. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org) or Compassion International (https://www.compassion.com)
