Clifford Thomas Granlund, Jr., of Two Harbors passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at the age of 85. Clifford âCliffâ was born on Dec. 29, 1935, in St. Paul, MN, the eldest of four children. His parents were Clifford Thomas and Elizabeth Marie (Capistrant) Granlund. Cliff attended Harding High School in St Paul, graduating in 1954. After high school he attended the University of Minnesota for a short time. He maintained a Minnesota Real Estate Brokerâs License. Cliff married Diana Davis on November 24, 1955, They had 10 children. They were married until 1979.
Cliff worked at Minnesota Mining (3M) and was an amazing salesman throughout the years. He began his career selling Paymaster check protectors and sold many products and services throughout the years such as freezer food programs, owned and operated a bowling alley, created a multi-level marketing company selling aloe vera products (Diana Productions) and magnetic products. He owned an amusement park which included a go cart track and water slide. He worked periodically as a bus driver, a carpenter and was a successful self-employed entrepreneur. Cliff loved spending time with his family, cooking, traveling, fishing, boating, birding, and playing cards. He enjoyed guns and old cars owning many throughout the years.
On a winter day, Cliff met Kathy at the Burnsville Mall where Cliff was walking the mall and where Kathy worked. They lived together in Jordan, MN, later settling in Two Harbors while wintering in Arizona and marrying in 2020.
Cliff is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Lyle; son, David; sons-in-law, Dick Trempe and Stuart McManus; and granddaughters, Lena Spees and Jordan Tribby. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Kathy Granlund; brother, Chuck Granlund; and his children, Kim Wall, Cheryl Trempe, Thomas (Terry) Granlund, John (Karen) Granlund, Julie (Wayne) Billings, Geri (Rob) Tribby, Michael Granlund, Jennifer McManus and Amy Granlund. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Don and Dianne Spees, and 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Guardian Angels Church, 8260 4th St N, Oakdale, with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. Interment to follow at Guardian Angels Cemetery. Masks are recommended but not required.
