Christ Harbey Christensen was born in Sasebo, Japan on December 9, 1949 to Jerry Curtis Christensen and Signe Adele (Hanson) Christensen.
His father, Jerry, was a sergeant in the US Army who fought in the Korean War and was listed as missing in action within a year of Christ’s birth. His mother, Adele, also served as an army nurse during WWII and the Korean conflict.
Christ was named after his grandfather, Christ F. Christensen, who immigrated from Denmark at the age of 17.
Christ grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota with cousins Patty & Donna close by. Harbey, Christ’s middle name, is in reference to Donna's father, Harbey.
Christ attended the University of Minnesota and earned a degree. He worked much of his career as a metallurgist for Minneapolis Electric Steel Castings, Honeywell, Aspen Research and later Tundra. He was often sought to investigate and solve problems involving physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements, compounds, and mixtures.
Christ had many interests such as hunting, fishing, sailing, reading, and music. In his early years, he developed a love for motorcycle racing.
In 2011, Christ received a diagnosis of lymphoma. Against all odds and with friends Ron & Bonny opening their home providing care for Christ for over a year, Christ recovered.
Christ was known for his dry sense of humor, kindness, gratitude, intelligence, determination, and love of family and friends.
