Charles Anthony "Charlie" Malmberg

On Monday, October 3, 2016, a special man passed on to his heavenly home. He was surrounded by those he loved in the beautiful home he built with his loving wife on Lake Chetek in WI. Charles (Charlie) A. Malmberg was born December 6, 1952 in Fairmont, MN. He graduated from White Bear Lake Area High School and studied at Lakewood Community College. He was a long time resident of St. Paul, MN and served as a police officer for the City of St. Paul from 1977 to 2002. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; son, Chad (Odra) Malmberg; daughter, Jessica (Jason) Kimpton; grandchildren, Cecelia and Jackson Kimpton; mother, Evelyn Malmberg, brothers, Mark, Dave (Sue), Steve, and Gary (Maca) Malmberg. He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Malmberg and brother, Scott Malmberg. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Saturday, October 8th, from 11-2 at Mueller Memorial - St. Paul, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, MN 55106. Charlie was a practical joker and a great storyteller to all who knew him. He was a best friend, partner in crime, and soul mate to his beautiful wife Carol. He was a hero to his two children and a playmate and teacher to his grandchildren. He was a man who cared about, accepted and wanted to help people and would do anything for his family and those he loved. He was a man who battled cancer for the last five years of his life and even had to teach himself to walk again, but didn't complain about his situation or his pain. Instead he relished in the time he had with his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He loved being a cop and in his retirement loved fishing, boating, and especially laughing and playing with his grandchildren. Charlie frequently stated he was "LTD" (Living the Dream). His strength, positivism, good humor, and perseverance allowed him to continue to enjoy life throughout his good times and bad. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten. He will be remembered as a joker, a giver, a lover, and a "professional everything".
