CAROL HELEN DORNER (nee ZECKA)
Age 90 of St. Paul
Passed Away on May 2, 2016
Carol was born on St. Paulâs west side on June 7, 1925 to Pauline (nee Tschida) and Oscar Zecka. In 1929, her parents built a house on the North Side of Saint Paul and moved there to raise their family. Carol attended St. Bernardâs Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School. In high school, she met Donald James Dorner, however, the two did not begin dating until after graduation when they met while dancing one night. Carol always wanted a big family and Donald made that dream come true when they got married. They had ten children together and raised them in St. Paul. For over 20 years, she was a retail clerk for Daytonâs Department Store in Downtown St. Paul. Carol enjoyed listening to country music, going for walks with a group of retired women, walking at the mall, and in the neighborhood. She enjoyed volunteering her time at St. Pascalâs in the lunchroom during funerals and other events. Carolâs greatest love was her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren at events in their lives, such as baptisms, confirmations, birthdays, graduations, weddings and sporting events. Christmas held a special place in her heart. When the entire family would get together, a full house and everyone having fun was what she wanted and loved. Carol was a very caring woman who will be remembered for her positive outlook on life and her great attitude. She was truly the definition of a loving mother. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Thanks mom.
