Mom passed away on June 16, 2023 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Taft; and grandson, Jason Mathisen; her parents and six siblings. Mom is survived by her son, Larry (Fran Dempster) Taft; daughters, Barb (Sandy)Villella and Robin (Don) Mathisen; grandchildren, Brian Mathisen, Nick (Shannon) Blake, Kayla Villella (fiancée Kyle Sullivan), Angie (Mark) Sottile; great grandchildren, Gio Sottile, Mae Blake, and Iver Blake; her sister, Dolores Lee; and many nieces and nephews.

Mom graduated from Monroe high school and worked for the Bell Telephone company as an operator. Once her children were born, she decided to stay home and raise her family. She delighted in cleaning! She made the best brownies and pumpkin bars! She was a big Minnesota Twins fan and loved watching the games. (Tossing out a colorful comment or two during the game.) She enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards, cribbage, bowling, listening to old tunes and reading when she was still able. Mom especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mom was affectionately called "Grandma", "Granny", "Granny Two Shoes" and "Boop, Boop Granny" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all love and miss you, Mom!

The family would like to thank the staff at Ecumen Season's at Maplewood, especially the hospice team, for their care and compassion.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, 840 6th St. E, St. Paul, MN 55106; with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association. Private interment, Union Cemetery, St. Paul, MN
