Barbara "Barbie" Scott Carriger (Peterson)
"Tunes", "Gramma"
Barbie passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022 from Multiple Myeloma and Covid. Barbie lived an exciting and fulfilling life. Her dazzling smile would light up any room. Many friends called her "Tunes", a name she loved because it represented her passion for music and fun.
Barbie's parties were legendary; authentic Derby Day Brunch, gourmet dinners and Christmas Day gatherings of friends and families where all the kids found a special present under her tree.
The most heartwarming party and the start of a new family journey, was Barbie and Jim's 25 th wedding anniversary, where they introduced their son Jon, Julie and baby Melanie to all.
Barbie attended Austin HS and the University of Minnesota where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Barbie's professional career included teaching, event director at the Carlton Theater, extensive non-profit volunteering and fundraising, and 24 wonderful years at BI Worldwide. During retirement, watercolor painting became her passion.
Barbie was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Marion Peterson and her brother, Bill. Survived by husband of 53 years, Jim, son Jon (Julie) Reedy, granddaughters Melanie (Eric) Sutton, Jessica (John Spanier) Reedy, cousins in Austin and Duluth, and friends around the world.
A "Celebration of Life" will take place at Braemar Golf Course, Edina MN on August 9th from 3-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed by the family for further research of Multiple Myeloma or "Feed My Starving Children".
