Ann Rose Farrell
nee Novak
of Maplewood
Passed peacefully on December 2, 2010, surrounded by her children and loved ones after a brief stay in hospice following a stroke. Born August 28, 1914, Ann married F. Patrick “Pat” Farrell, raised three children, and lived a full and happy life enriched by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Pat enjoyed traveling together, and she was an exceptional cook and gardener. Ann shared her Czech heritage openly with her family, calling on the traditions taught to her by her parents, who were first-generation immigrants to the U.S. Ann was a social butterfly and was a member of a number of clubs, including the Welcoming Committee at Walker at Hazelridge, where she lived independently for the last 16 years of her life. Her faith guided her in all things and her sense of humor truly made her “96 years young.” Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Pat Farrell; parents Frances and Louis Novak; and sister Clara Proulx. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Jo) Farrell; daughters Dianne (Jim) Shiely and Maureen (Bill) Lundquist; grandchildren Steven, Alycia, Candice, Tracy, Steffani and Megan Farrell, Jim Shiely, Kim Young and Allison Thomley, and Katie Seitz and Brian Lundquist; and great-grandchildren Lorrell and James Phineas Shiely, Chase and Grant Young, and Molly, Anna and Nolan Thomley.Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 6, at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the church located at 1725 Kennard St., Maplewood. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Vision Loss Resources (Minneapolis) or Health East Hospice, Unit 5000; 45 W. 10th Street, St. Paul, 55102. Special thanks to the staffs at Walker at Hazelridge and St. Joseph’s Hospital hospice staff. “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
