“An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
Emmet was born on November 17, 1927 to Maria Cesedia and Giuseppe DiCosimo. He attended schools in St. Paul and graduated from Johnson High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy as a Seaman Second Classman and was stationed in San Diego for nine months. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth DiCosimo, and they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on May 19, 1951. They raised three beautiful daughters on St. Paul’s Eastside. Emmet was able to attend Globe Business College and went on to work at Swift & Company, Avoles Plumbery, and Ramsey County. Outside of work and his family, he enjoyed gardening, taking long walks, and woodworking. More than anything, he loved to be around family and friends.
Emmet passed away peacefully while at his home at Cerenity Marian Residence in St. Paul. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ralph, Blanche, Flora, and Louise; and his dear wife, Betty. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Mary (Mark) Sokolik of Ellsworth, WI, Ann DiCosimo of St. Paul, MN, and Joan (Jim) Learn of Lake Elmo, MN; his grandchildren, Jason (Andrea) Sokolik, and Katie (Kevin) Gardner; his great-granddaughters, Sophia and Ariana Sokolik; his sisters, Margaret Babler and Gloria Chatterton; and many other family and friends.
