Albert Thaler

April 16, 1931 — February 7, 2025

Albert Bruno Thaler, born on April 16, 1931, in Norway, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. He most recently resided in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Albert was the first son of Joseph and Maddalena Thaler, Italian immigrants who instilled in him a deep pride for his heritage. He shared his love for Italian food, culture, and language with his wife, Shirley (Joy), and their children.

Albert enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Planning and Technical Superintendent at National Steel Mining, where he was recognized for his hard work and dedication. His career took him to various locations, including Michigan, Canada, and Missouri, before he retired in Arizona and Minnesota.

An avid golfer, reader and gardening enthusiast, Albert found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly his daily walks. He relished watching sports on television, especially football, and was known for his deep devotion to his faith, regularly attending Catholic church services and making the sign of the cross three times as he passed by any church.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Joy, and children: Cheryl (Sherry) Carlstrom (Alan Stedman), Patrice Kuppe (Geoff Kuppe), Joseph Thaler, and Donna Otto (Peter Otto). He leaves behind grandchildren Stephanie Duggan, Katherine Snell, Samantha Thaler, Allison Schatza and Robert Otto, as well as great-grandchildren Nicholas Duggan, Madeline Duggan, Taylor Starr, Grayson Starr and Melanie Schatza. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Julio Thaler and infant son Robert Thaler.

A loving husband and father, Albert's legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and faith will be cherished by all who knew him.
