Life Saving Donations
On June 23rd and 24th Mueller Memorial was proud to host blood drives at both our St. Paul and White Bear Lake locations for the American Red Cross.
Given the need for social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, receiving enough donations to meet demand has been a challenge for the American Red Cross. So Mary Thompson, a funeral director at Mueller Memorial and frequent blood donor, saw an opportunity to use our spacious locations make more donations possible.
Mary worked with the incredibly organized and efficient staff at the American Red Cross to get all the arrangements in place. We promoted the event online and through the Red Cross’ website, which led to all 60 of our available appointments being claimed.
On any given day someone may not be able to give blood for a number of reasons, but we were thrilled with our results. Out of 60 appointments the goal was to collect 40 pints. With Mueller staff filling in for people would couldn’t give the Red Cross left on that Wednesday with 51 pints of life saving blood.
Thank you to all the donors, workers, and volunteers for helping us make the Mueller Memorial Blood Drive such a success! We look forward to hosting again in the future. If you would like to make an appointment to safely donate blood visit www.redcross.org/give-blood
