Brian Basil Polasek
Brian Basil Polasek was born October 5, 1961 as the son of Basil and Bernice Polasek. He grew up in Marshfield Wisconsin and was active in sports throughout his elementary, middle and high schools and excelled in Tennis throughout High School. Brian was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle award at the age of 14 but didn’t stop at that point. He continued with scouting until he graduated from Marshfield Senior High school in 1980 with honors. Brian started many friendships in elementary school that he maintained throughout his entire life.
After graduation, Brian attended Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana and gained a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Brian became the editor of the PEM – Purdue Engineering Magazine for several years prior to graduation to voice his opinions of college life. His college career was interrupted with the development of Hodgins Disease in his freshman year so he returned to Marshfield Medical center to undergo treatments, but continued with school at the UW extension.
After graduation from Purdue, Brian married his college year’s sweetheart, Ann Schraufnagel on August 3, 1985. The two ventured to Long Beach California where Brian began his career in the Aeronautical field with Northrup. Brian and Ann remained in California for two years and began their family with a daughter Britny Ann before moving to Saint Louis in 1987. While at St. Louis he worked for McDonnel Douglas and expanded their family with the addition of a son – Andrew Brian.
After a short stay in St. Louis, Brian started a career with Northwest Airlines in 1990 and settled in the White Bear Lake area. Brian’s life and hobbies revolved around the activities of his family. Brian enjoyed an annual golf game with family and friends to connect on activities from the past year. Brian enjoyed building projects around the home and helping others whenever possible. Brian became the Cubmaster of Pack 402 and followed Andrew through to Boy Scouts in which Brian lead the troop as Scoutmaster. Brian enjoyed his time in scouting and continued for several years after his son exited the program.
Brian passed away on April 13, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at the St Joseph Medical center in St Paul. He is welcomed into death by his mom (Bernice) and grandparents (William and Eleanor Polasek and Joseph and Dorothy Baumann).
